Brenda R. (Thunhorst) Schleyhahn, 65, of Springfield, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence.
Brenda was born October 10, 1954 in Taylorville, the daughter of Walter J. “Tunie” and Ruth M. (Swain) Thunhorst.  She was a member of the Morrisonville Class of 1972, and went on to work the State of Illinois Department of Human Services for many years, until her retirement.  Brenda was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Morrisonville.  She enjoyed making and painting pottery, macramé, refinishing furniture, and shopping.  Brenda was also a lover of all animals.
She was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Michelle A. Rosenblum.
Brenda is survived by her mother, Ruth M. Thunhorst of Morrisonville; sisters, Kathy Myers of Morrisonville, and Kelli (Bryan) LeMarr of Auburn; nieces and nephews, Cristin (D.J. Sanders) O’Connor of Morrisonville, Hannah O’Connor of Springfield, Austin (Chelsea) Myers of Alaska, Aria Guerra of Phoenix, AZ, Zachary (Jessica Southard) LeMarr of Springfield, and Brandon LeMarr of Springfield; 6 great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
Private family memorial ceremonies will be held with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.
Inurnment will be held at Morrisonville Cemetery at a later date.
