Richard Sutton, 68 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 7:04 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 22, 1952 in Taylorville, IL the son of Harold and Phyllis (Schaefer) Sutton. He married Tammie Smith on December 30, 1982 in Taylorville, IL. Rick was a retired police officer from the Taylorville Police Department. He served as Police Chief for Nokomis and Morrisonville Police Departments. Rick also worked as a part time officer for Edinburg and Harvel Police Departments and served as Deputy Coroner for the Christian County Coroner’s office for 13 years. He was a member of the Pawnee Masonic Lodge # 675 AF & AM, The Police Benevolent Association, and VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville.
He is survived by his Wife: Tammie Sutton of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Ashley (Mike) Kerney of Dade City, FL; Grandchildren: Rian and Jacob Kerney; Sisters: Pam Holder of Tucson, AZ; Trish Haines of Tucson, AZ; Step-Mother: Rosalie Magos of Taylorville, IL; Mother-in-Law: Mary Porter of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.  
It was Rick’s wishes to be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
