Donald Joseph Moutrey

Donald Joseph Moutrey, 73, of Keller, Texas (formerly of Taylorville, Illinois), passed away July 11, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. He fought a courageous battle with cancer since 2017. He was born on February 6, 1947, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of William and Alice (Purkes) Moutrey. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda, on March 1, 1970. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Don graduated from Taylorville High School in 1965. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was a 50-year member of the Taylorville VFW. He was employed by Freeman United Coal Company for 14 years and retired from Pillsbury/Cargill after 25 years. During his career with Cargill, he was the Maintenance Director in Illinois, Virginia, and Texas. At work and at home, Don always loved a project and nothing was ever too big to tackle. Don was a quiet and unassuming man, who loved his family with all of his heart. He was a dedicated NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, and Dallas Mavericks fan. And, he never missed an opportunity to purchase his weekly Lottery ticket.

Don is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters Paula (Howard) Brown, and Lindsay Moutrey; brother, Ted (Colleen) Moutrey; brothers-in-law, Steve (Angie) Kocurek, Paul (Judy) Kocurek; nieces and nephews, Angela (Pam) Duncan, Todd (Gina) Moutrey, Melissa (Andy) Kerr, Kelli Kocurek, Shanon (Valerie) Kocurek, Charlee Kocurek, Kyle (Jessica) Kocurek. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob; in-laws Paul and Gloria Kocurek; and nephew baby Stephen Kocurek.

Due to COVID-19, a graveside service with military rites will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating the services. Friends and family are welcome.
