Janet Marie Tarrant

Janet Marie Tarrant, 64, of Mt. Auburn, passed away at 12:02 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Prairie Creek Village in Decatur.

 

Janet was born February 22, 1956 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Melvin and Fern (Stephens) Alexander.  She worked for many years providing in-home healthcare to senior citizens.  Janet also worked for HD Smith in Springfield, as well as for Moffitt Funeral Home in Morrisonville as a receptionist.  She was a member of the Mt. Auburn Church of Christ, and she volunteered for many years at the Morrisonville-Palmer Food Pantry.  Janet loved playing BINGO with her friends, and she enjoyed yard sales, mushroom hunting, picking berries, and vegetable gardening.  Most of all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jarod A. Tarrant; and son-in-law, Tommy Wiseman.

Janet is survived by her children, Christina Wiseman of Palmer, JayR Tarrant of Morrisonville, and Jonathan (Elise Fryman) Tarrant of Mt. Auburn; grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Hadley, Matthew Tarrant, Alissa Sharp, Jayson Tarrant, Lucus Tarrant, Bailee Rigney, Mason Tarrant, Trenton Tarrant, Alexander Tarrant, Damien Tarrant, Andrew Tarrant, Sara Fryman, Emma Fryman, and Grayson Fryman; sister, Thelma “Jeannie” (Roland) Richards of Chandlerville; sister-in-heart, Kathy Garmon of Taylorville; special nieces, Jenny Garmon and Kimberley (Jesse) Adrian; and friend and ex-husband, Harry Horrer.

 

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville.  In keeping with CDC guidelines, only 50 guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville, with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.

 

Interment will follow the ceremony at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to: Morrisonville-Palmer Food Pantry, or Five Loaves and Two Fish Food Pantry, or Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois.  Donations of food may be brought to the Palmer Community Building on Thursday morning.
