Sharon Tarrant

Sharon Tarrant, 75 of Taylorville passed away at 9:34 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2020 in her home.  She was born on November 5, 1944 in Taylorville, the daughter of Gerald and Mildred (Sparks) Hartel.  She married Archibald Tarrant on September 5, 1964 in Grove City and Archie preceded her in death on December 5, 2000.  She graduated from Sangamon State University with a degree in accounting.  Sharon retired after working many years for Christian County.  She was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church , BPW, and the Red Hat Society.  Sharon enjoyed taking part in chili cooking competitions for several years.  Traveling, especially spending time in Gulf Shores during the winter, was a joy in her life.  More than anything she loved her family and many dear friends.  
She is survived by her daughters: Tanya Holze of Poplar Grove and Erica Tarrant-Wilson (Daniel) of Hillsboro; grandchildren: Devon Holze, Phoebe Wilson, and Brandon Holze; siblings: Jerry Hartel (Carol) of Paris, Missouri, Marilyn Milewski of Chicago, and Jane McIntyre of Springfield; nieces and nephews:  Brian Traughber, Cydney Hartel, Jill Hartel, Penny Milslagle, Brooke Morris, Tiana Cooper, Daisy Richards, and Antonio Freemon; and several great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.  
A memorial service for Sharon will take place at 11am on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Taylorville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10am until 11am at the church.  Inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Due to the pandemic, all attendees are asked to wear a mask and follow all health guidelines.  Memorials may be left to the First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Sharon, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
