Wreatha Riva


Wreatha K. Riva 93 of Kincaid passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. Wreatha was born one of three triplets (Wreatha, Leatha & Leda) May 13, 1927 on the family farm in Sharpsburg, IL to Ora E. and Katherine (Purcell) Redfern. Wreatha married John Pete Riva on June 29, 1946 at her family’s home in Sharpsburg, IL. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage prior to John’s passing on April 22, 1998. They made their home and resided their entire married life in Kincaid, IL. Wreatha was a beautician and operated Wreatha’s Beauty Shop out of her home in Kincaid for over 20 years before going to work and retiring from the State of Illinois Comptrollers Office after 21 years of service. Wreatha enjoyed spending time with her family, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the Taylorville YMCA for exercise and fellowship. The YMCA family was very near and dear to her heart! Wreatha was a long standing member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 905 in Kincaid.
Wreatha is survived by her three children, Rudy Riva of Kincaid, Wesley (Sheila) Riva of Taylorville and Vickie (Don) Henley of Springfield, IL, Twin Sister Leatha Brown of Mt. Carmel, IL, Grandchildren Rudy Riva Jr., Tony Riva Erin Riva, Eric Riva, Brent Riva, Jeremy Riva, Megan Henley Brown and Sara Henley; Great Grandchildren Jeffrey Riva, Nicole Riva, Ally Riva, Lane Riva, Cooper Riva, Caden Riva, Nolan Riva, Henley Brown, Camden Brown and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Leda Mae Redfern and Mary Lambert; Brothers Eugene Redfern and Bruce Redfern; Daughter-in-Law Marilyn Riva.
Due to COVID 19, Private Family Services will be held at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
