Violet Walton

Violet Adelia Walton, 80 of Stonington, passed away at 12:20pm on Sunday, August 23, 2020 in her home. She was born on April 1, 1940 in Taylorville, the daughter of Harrison and Olive (Osborn) Daniels. She married Raymond Walton on December 20, 1958 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1988. Vi retired from PNC Bank where she worked for many years. She was an active member of the Stonington United Methodist Church where she was part of the United Methodist Women. Vi enjoyed traveling all across the country, having visited 45 states over the years. She will always be remembered as a caring woman who never knew a stranger and treated everyone as family. She was especially devoted to her family. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay.

She is survived by her children: Dee Dee (Jim) Marron, Edie Walton, and Ramie (Samantha) Walton, all of Stonington, and Julie Chapman of Blue Mound; grandchildren: Megan Marron, Britani (Jarrad) Morrison, Will Walton, Carter Walton, Anna Walton, Austin Chapman, and Abby Chapman; great grandson: Jagger Morrison; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Jesse Daniels, Bettie Mellon, Drucilla Sloan, Harrison Daniels, Shirley Randall, Wally Daniels, and Robert Daniels.

The funeral service for Vi will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb McGregor officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Old Stonington Cemetery. Memorials in Vi’s honor can be made to the Stonington United Methodist Church or Children’s Miracle Network. Due to the pandemic, all public health guidelines will be followed, and masks are required. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
