Alberta June Meyer

Alberta June Meyer, 96, of Taylorville, peacefully passed away at 5:32pm on Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  Alberta was born and raised in Taylorville, the only child to Albert and Ruth (Melville) Siegrist.  She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1942.  She married George William “Bill” Meyer on March 30, 1947 in Taylorville.  Bill preceded her in death on December 21, 2012.  Together they raised 3 daughters.  Alberta worked at Farmers Supply for many years as an office manager.  She was a life member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville.  Alberta enjoyed playing cards and was in several bridge and pinochle clubs throughout her years.  She and Bill traveled to all 50 states and enjoyed taking many cruises together.  She enjoyed time with her family and playing games.  


Alberta is survived by her daughters: Kay Cowell (David) of Taylorville, Janet Smith (Steve) of Salem, and Beth Lindvahl of Effingham; grandchildren: Jeff Cowell (Sheila) and Doug Cowell both of Taylorville, Sarah Campbell (Nik) of Chesterfield, Missouri, Natalie Weaver (Tim) of Steeleville, and Andrew Smith of Troy; and 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law: Craig Lindvahl. 


A funeral service for Alberta will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Becky Lembke officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00am on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  CDC health guidelines will be followed including social distancing and the use of masks.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Walnut St. Taylorville, or the Taylorville Food Pantry, 1429 E.
