Betty Jackson

Betty Jean Jackson, 90 of Taylorville, passed away at 2:30am on Friday, October 2, 2020 in Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on July 2, 1930 in Visalia, California, the daughter of Edward and Cora (Rogers) Jackson.  Betty was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Nokomis.  She operated Betty’s Tavern for several years and also was a home healthcare provider.  She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved watching games while enjoying a cold Stag beer.  More than anything, she loved her family and was blessed to be able to help babysit her great grandchildren.  
She is survived by her daughters: Deby Dickey, Karen Argo, and Joni Durbin, all of Taylorville; grandchildren: Wendy Michelle Oller of Taylorville, Teresa Ann Kunkes (Nick) of Bloomington, and Thomas Trevor Oller of Taylorville; great grandchildren: Marissa Elizabeth Burkey, Will Morrison Burkey, Makenna Wilson Burkey, Jonathan Thomas Gattuso, Rose Tyler Kunkes, and River Song Kunkes; and great-great granddaughter: Hadleigh Grace Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; 7 brothers and 3 sisters; and sons-in-law: Bill Dickey and Leroy Argo.
A graveside service for Betty will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 5, 2020 in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery outside of Nokomis with Rev. Rodney Blomquist officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Taylorville Care Center activity fund.  CDC health guidelines will be followed including social distancing and the use of masks.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Betty, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
