Donn R. Diehl Jr., 78 of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 7:50 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 14, 1942 in San Diego, CA the son of Donn R. and Claudia (Day) Diehl Sr. He married Gwen Keller on April 20, 1974 in East Moline, IL.  He served in the United States Army and retired in 1984 and then worked at Christian County Mental Health until his retirement. Donn was proud of the time he served in Germany and spoke of it frequently.  Donn was a member of the American Legion Post #73 in Taylorville.  
He is survived by his wife: Gwen Diehl of Taylorville, IL, Sons: Kevin (Deborah) Diehl of Arnold, MO; Donn E. (Holly) Diehl of Decatur, IL; David (Stephanie) Diehl of Taylorville, IL, Grandchildren: Logan (Rachel) Diehl of Taylorville, IL, Colyn Diehl of Taylorville, IL; Kierstyn Diehl of Taylorville, Riley Diehl of Decatur, IL; Bryan Diehl of Taylorville, IL; Eric Diehl of Decatur, IL, Sister: Jayne Davy of Yuma, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded by parents, sister: Linda McKay of Yuma, AZ.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL at a later date. Memorials are optional, but may be made to the American Legion Post #73 110 W. Franklin St. Taylorville, IL 62568 if you choose.
