James Scott

James E. “Jim” Scott, 72 of Pawnee passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 5:57 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on August 11, 1948 in South Bend, IN the son of Ray and Rose (Maltby) Scott. Prior to moving to Pawnee, Jim lived in Carlinville, Springfield, Rochester, and Stonington, Illinois.  Jim graduated from Stonington High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973; he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE.  After Jim’s years of military service, he worked for Bunn Capitol Company in Springfield, IL and retired from Sysco Corporation. 
He is survived by his Daughter: Kirsten (Peter) Bilan of Albuquerque, NM; Son: Cory Scott of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Madeline and Jack Bilan of Albuquerque, NM; Mother: Rose Scott of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Jackie Mitchell of Phoenix, AZ; Debbie (Rick) Burge of Nokomis, IL; Becky Bell of Bloomington, IL; Brother: Sid (Marie) Scott of Brooklyn, MI; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his beloved dogs, Sadie and Trixie. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Scott, and brother-in-law, Roger Mitchell.
Throughout his life, Jim focused on service to his family, his country, his church, and his community.  He was a member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 257. Jim was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed traveling, and loved being a grandpa.
James will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
