Rick "Rambo" Strunk

Rick “Rambo” Strunk, 62, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:37 a.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at his residence with his loving wife by his side.

Rick was born June 21, 1958 in Taylorville, the son of Walter F. and Evelyn J. (Charles) Strunk. He married Heather Beshears on September 4, 2018 in Taylorville.

Rick was a 1976 graduate of Taylorville High School, and went on to farm for Hershey Farms for 41 years. He also drove trucks for MBM, and worked for the Howden Fan plant in Springfield until it closed. Rick was heavily involved in and promoted several Archery shops, and enjoyed working on people’s bows and teaching them the sport. He competed in field, and 3-D Archery competitions. Rick was a devoted member of the Taylorville Gun Club for decades, where he helped build and maintain many of the shooting benches, as well as assisting with the overall maintenance of the property. In addition, he competed in trap shooting and numerous other shooting competitions. Rick enjoyed gunsmithing and building various firearms. He was known for helping people sight in a new gun, and promoted all things outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ira L. “Peanut” Grafton; and lifelong friend, Fuzzy Davis.

Rick is survived by his wife, Heather Strunk of Taylorville; children, Aron Strunk of Morrisonville, Adam Strunk of Decatur, and Amanda (Kevin) Strunk of Taylorville; 3 step-daughters, Stephanie, Ashleigh, and Danielle; brothers, Jim “Moe” (Peggy Games) Strunk of Decatur, and Walter “Dino” Strunk of Branson, MO; several cousins; and many lifelong friends, that Rick considered his family.

Memorial Visitation: The family will receive guests from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville. No public ceremonies will be held.
