Lillian Marie Blessent

Lillian Marie Blessent transformed from being an angel among us to being an angel above us at 1:34pm on February 14, 2021 surrounded by her family at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Illinois. Lillian was born in Taylorville April 21st, 1938, daughter of Mary and Francis Bela Durbin. She married Glenn Reed Sr on February 10th, 1954. Lillian worked as a school cafeteria cook in Overland, MO for many years and spent over 30 years being a caretaker for Glenn, who preceded her in death. She then married Thomas Blessent on July 1st, 2006. 
Lillian is survived by her husband and best friend Thomas Blessent of Taylorville. She is the loving mother of daughter Glenda Washington and (grand) daughter Christina (Charlie) Durbin of Taylorville. Grandmother of Jay (Tiffany) Washington of St. Louis, MO, Steve (Kelsey) Washington of Pana, IL and Rod (Alyssa) Washington of Dupo, IL. Lillian was the beloved Gigi to Christopher Durbin and Cayley Durbin. She also was a caring stepmother to Tony (Cathy) Blessent, Thomas (Diane) Blessent and Timothy Blessent of Taylorville and had several step-grandchildren. She was also a great grandmother, aunt to several nieces and nephews and sister to Jake Durbin of Decatur.  
Lillian enjoyed spending time with her husband going to auctions, garage sales and out to eat where she was always ready with a sweet smile and looked forward to conversation with friends. She also cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren sharing her love of life and God with them. Lillian enjoyed crafts, collecting beautiful items for her home and Garth Brooks. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Taylorville. 
Lillian was preceded in death by her son Glenn Jr, parents and several siblings.
Church service to celebrate the life of Lillian will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11am with a visitation one hour prior from 10:00-11:00 am at the Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Don Beeman officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. 
Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
