Julie Ann Brown

Julie Ann Brown, 63 of Taylorville, passed away at 4:46pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on February 9, 1958 in Taylorville, the daughter of Evan and Esther (Dozier) Thomas.  Julie married Robert “Bob” Brown on September 16, 1977 in Taylorville.  She was a 1976 graduate of Stonington High School. Julie later attended Sparks College in Shelbyville where she earned her court reporting degree, completing the program in 1997.  Julie had a great love of music and was an accomplished pianist.  She took lessons at Millikin University at a young age and shared her talent by performing at recitals all around the area.  She appreciated nearly all genres of music. Julie was an animal lover and had several cats and dogs over the years.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  From spending time at lake lots, to holiday weekends she loved celebrations.  Christmas was always a special time for her.  She took a lot of pride in decorating the perfect tree and making the holiday special for her family.  She enjoyed watching birds, especially the hummingbirds that she fed in her yard.  Julie enjoyed adult coloring books, and loved games of all types including cards, pinball, and arcade games.  She had a true love of taking long rides, most recently in her prized blue Ford Mustang GT.  

 

She is survived by her husband: Bob Brown of Taylorville; children: Stephen Brown of Roscoe, Susie Ryan of Stonington, and Danny Brown of Springfield; and grandchildren: Rebecca Brown, Renee Brown, and Maxx Brown.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

A funeral service for Julie will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating.  A visitation will be held from 5 until 7pm on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials in her honor may be made to the American Lung Association.  The use of masks and social distancing are required.
