Richard (Dick) Porter

Richard “Dick” Porter, 76 of Taylorville, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Morrisonville. He was born on October 21, 1944 in Christopher, Illinois, the son of RJ and Camille (Turner) Porter. Dick married Ruth Ann Loepker on July 30, 1966 in Litchfield, and together they truly enjoyed life, their family, and traveling the world. Dick was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge in Taylorville. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Caterpillar for 37 years, retiring and enjoying life as soon as he was able. Dick and Ruth toured the country driving or riding their Goldwing motorcycle, and flew wherever wheels couldn’t reach. They both had so much fun playing Blackjack that they enjoyed traveling to play in Las Vegas or Tunica. Dick had a deep love for his wife and his family, and he will be missed deeply.

Dick is survived by his children: Dawn Durbin (Marty) of Morrisonville and Jay Porter (Michelle) of Geneva; grandchildren: Jessie Borgic, Marissa Borgic, Shelby Porter, Sarah Porter, and Amelia Durbin; sister: Barb (Larry) Buckley of Taylorville; and brother: Bob (Leslie) Porter of Auburndale, Florida.

In addition to his wife, Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jeff Porter; and his sister: Bonita Bennett.
