Carolyn S. "Carely" Winn

Carolyn S. "Carely" Winn, 74, of Stonington passed away 3:45 pm, Friday, April 9, 2021, at HSHS St. John's hospital, Springfield, IL.

 

She was born August 4, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Moore) Young, of Stonington.

Carolyn was a class of 1964 Stonington High School graduate.

She married Stewart (Stu)Winn, October 1, 1975, in Divernon Illinois, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2012.

Throughout her life, Carolyn was employed with Allis Chalmers, Horace Mann, Stonington Community Bank (later, Illini Bank), People's Bank and Trust, Prairieland Fertilizer, and Blue Mound State Bank. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and a member of the Stonington American Legion Auxiliary. Carolyn was the Stonington Village Trustee for a time, volunteered at Summerfest, an election judge, and a lifelong, smiling face in the Stonington community.

Carolyn and Stu enjoyed traveling. Visiting Disney World many times, NASCAR races, Vegas, Branson, New York, Mexico, and many other adventures. Dining out often with her forever best friends, Janet, and the late Zeke Bell. Carolyn was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, attending many ballgames with dear friends, Larry and Janet Morrell. Most recently, Carolyn enjoyed attending Bingo around the area, with her cousin, Sandy Brewer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. She will be dearly missed by her family, and friends.

 

A funeral service for Carolyn will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will take place at Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 until 7:00pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
