Mark G. Minnis

Mark G. Minnis, 76, of Morrisonville, passed away at 10:16 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mark was born February 10, 1945 in Taylorville, the son of Lavora “Flint” and Catherine (McQuade) Minnis. He married Yola A. Newman on September 16, 1972 at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, and they have enjoyed over 48 years of marriage.

Mark graduated from Morrisonville High School with the Class of 1964, and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, Mark worked for Borg Werner from 1970 until 1981. He then went on to work for St. Maurice School and the Knights of Columbus in Morrisonville as head of maintenance. Mark retired in 2006 from the Sacred Heart Griffin Convent. Throughout his career he owned and operated his own floor cleaning business as well, Minnis Floor Cleaning. Mark was a life-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus in Morrisonville. Mark was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son.

Mark is survived by his wife, Yola A. Minnis of Morrisonville; daughters, Tonia (fiancé, Ed Neal) Minnis of Morrisonville, and Catherine Minnis (husband, Jay) Fassero of Kincaid; granddaughters, Kendra (fiancé, Edward Radaker) Johnston of Jacksonville, and Reagan and Lena Fassero of Kincaid; siblings, Philip (wife, Linda) Minnis of Marion, Brian Minnis of Morrisonville, Maureen (companion, Vern Lowis) Dowdy of Palmer, Kurt (wife, Rhonda) Minnis of Morrisonville, and Raymond Minnis of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Mass: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4th Street, Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Florent Kanga, S.A.C. as celebrant.

Interment with military honors will follow the mass at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.
