Carol Anne "Hathaway" Correll

Carol Ann (Hathaway) Correll, 72, of Morrisonville, passed away due to complications from COVID-19, at 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Carol was born December 24, 1948 in Danville, the daughter of Herman and Doris (Hamilton) Hathaway.  She married Danny Correll at the Rossville Methodist Church in 1974.  They had three beautiful daughters, and later divorced.

Carol graduated from Rossville High School in 1967, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s in education from Eastern Illinois University in 1971.  Upon her graduation, she gained employment as an elementary teacher at Morrisonville, where she taught many different grade levels until her retirement in 2004.  After retiring, she worked as a librarian at the Morrisonville schools.  Carol then worked as a special education aide for Mid-State, as well as for Casey’s General Store in Morrisonville for many more years.  To say that she was hard-working would be an understatement.  Carol worked from sun up until sun down for years, to take care of her daughters and grandchildren.  She was selfless, and entirely devoted to her family.  Though she loved shopping, watching HGTV and Hallmark Movies, and was an avid reader (always reading the last chapter first), and her BUNCO club, her greatest joy was being a cheerleader for her grandkids.  Carol rarely missed a sporting event, pageant, or extracurricular activity of any kind.  Family extended to her daughters’ friends and their children, and her grandchildren’s friends.  Carol will always be remembered as a wonderful, devoted, mom and grandma, and second mom to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Heather (Brian Vocks) Vickery of Taylorville, Amanda (Shawn) Christian of Morrisonville, and Malissa (Aaron) Calvert of Taylorville; grandchildren, Trevor Badman, Chase (Shelbi Paul) Vickery, Rhaegan (Matthew Tarrant) Correll, Jett Vickery, and Tate Christian; siblings, Marsha (Ray) Price, Joyce (Don) Hasler, and Mark (Laura) Hathaway, all of Rossville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Chi Chi.
