Hilda "Bea" Washburn

Hilda “Bea” Washburn, 90 of Taylorville, passed away at 3:06pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville. She was born on January 2, 1931, in Yatesville, Georgia, the daughter of James C. and Nannie C. (Boyt) Blount. Bea married Lloyd Sylvester Washburn on March 7, 1952, in Oxnard, California and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2020. Following high school, Bea moved to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI. It was during this time she met Lloyd while he was serving in the Navy. Bea loved sports of all types, but most of all basketball. She played on the Yatesville High School basketball team, competing in the state tournament. When she and Lloyd moved back to Illinois, she worked along side her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pana, the Order of Eastern Star, Christian County Home Extension, and the United Methodist Women. More than anything, Bea was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her children: Michael Washburn (Nora) of Rosamond, Debbie Menn (Rodger) of Ames, Nebraska, Ted Washburn of Portsmouth, Virginia, Lloyd Washburn (Brenda) of Pana, and Mark Washburn of Taylorville; daughter-in-law: Rene Corso of Taylorville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother: Lamont Blount (Annette) of Thomaston, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Daniel Washburn; brothers: James Blount and Cecil Blount; and sisters: Helen Lewis and Jackie LeCroy.

The funeral service for Bea will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 14, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, 114 Maple St., Pana, Illinois with Pastor Nat Kealen officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 until 11:00am on Monday at the church. Burial will take place at the Rosamond Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pana First Baptist Church.
