Betty Ruth West

Betty Ruth West, 92 of Nokomis passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 9:57 a.m. at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Nokomis, IL. She was born on October 30, 1928 in Moweaqua, IL the daughter of Marshall and Mildred (Marshall) Nichols and foster daughter of: Goldie Singler. She married Ray West on June 7, 1947 in Vandalia, IL and he preceded her in death in August of 1997. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for 84 years. She loved Quilting so much that she has made over 100 quilts. She also loved going to Church, baking, and gardening in her flower garden.

She is survived by her sons: Johnie Ray (Cheryl) West of Nokomis, IL; Richard Eugene (Debby) West of Irving, IL; Steven Lynn (Gail) West and Randy Scott West both of Nokomis, IL; grandchildren: Johnie (Jamie) West Jr. of Virden, IL; Amy Mesnard of Springfield, IL; Sara Batty of Hillsboro, IL; Christina West of Nokomis, IL; Trevor (Stacy) West of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Trent (Krystal) West; Tyson West; Ryan West; Cameron West; Cody (Shawnee) West all of Nokomis, IL; fourteen great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Rita West of Nokomis, IL; sister-in-law: Ethel Bland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Sheila Ann West, son: Jerry West, granddaughter: Heather West, brothers: Morris (Zetta) Nichols, Lloyd (Beulah) West; Marshall Nichols Jr.; Keith Nichols; sisters: Gerdy (Lawrence) Cole, Helen (Robert) McIntosh, Norma (Bob) Newcome, brothers-in-law: Floyd, Charles, Max, Merle, Owen and George West.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in rural Nokomis. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in rural Nokomis with Rev. Randy West officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery.
