Charles A. Carroll

Charles A. Carroll, 91 of Hillsboro and formerly of Nokomis and Fillmore passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 6:36 p.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs, IL. He was born on December 27, 1929 in Oconee, IL the son of John Carmen and Iola Fern (Craig) Carroll. He married Erma Mae Alexander-Burk on January 14, 1967 in Hillsboro, IL and she preceded him in death on April 14, 2007. Charles worked as a High Lift Operator for 38 years at Central Illinois Stone which became Material Service before his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fillmore, IL, he was a 40 Year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his Daughters: Susie (Jim) Anderson of Flower Mound, TX; Cindy (George) McMorrow of Ocean, NJ; Julie (Bob) Burnham of Jackson, MO; Grandchildren: Patrick (Keely) Anderson of Van Alstyne, TX; Jenny (Tyler) Grawe of Colorado Springs, CO; Tara (Dan) Walker of Belmar, NJ; Caitlin McMorrow of Ocean, NJ; Lauren (Hugh) McGowan of Cape Girardeau, MO; Landon Burnham of Jackson, MO; Great-Grandchildren: Christian and Kennedy Grawe of Colorado Springs, CO; Case Anderson of Van Alstyne, TX; Jacob Charles and Logan Walker of Belmar, NJ; Sister: LaWanda Anderson of Nokomis, IL; Brothers: Ed Carroll of Bradenton, FL; Lynn (Sheila) Carroll of Oconee, IL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers: Cecil, Jim, Russell, and Rex Carroll and sisters: Ruth Rambo, Imogene Foster, Mary Ann Carroll, Sandy Gaskin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 10:00-12:00 Noon at Fillmore United Methodist Church in Fillmore. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 12:00 noon at the Fillmore United Methodist Church in Fillmore with Pastor Kathy Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.

Memorials may be made to Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore Historical Society or the Fillmore United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank Montgomery Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of Charlie for the last 2 years.
