Janet Deloris Lawyer

Janet Deloris Lawyer, 79 of Taylorville passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021 into her saviors’ arms at 9:05 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on February 26, 1942 in Moweaqua, IL the daughter of Cecil and Evelyn (Eversole) Shuck. She married James Lawyer on April 16, 1961 in Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Assumption, IL and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2017. Janet had her Beautician license where she started her career and then later, she worked and retired from the Taylorville Junior High School Cafeteria. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Pana. Janet loved her husband, children, and especially her Grandchildren. Her brother was a great support system through the years, they had a relationship that could not be broken even with death. Janet was known for her sense of humor and her ability to cook the best poached eggs, lasagna and chocolate chip cookies around.  In most recent days, she enjoyed feeding and watching the squirrels run in her yard.

She is survived by her daughters: Terri (Jeff) Nolen of Stonington, IL; Rhonda (Paul) Moma of Taylorville, IL; son: Doug (Lisa) Lawyer of Rogers, AR; grandchildren: Bradly (Jennifer) Heimsness of Taylorville, Brandon Heimsness of Springfield, Daniel (Brooke) Nolen of Moweaqua, Kaitlyn (Alex) Norris of Palmer, Corinne (Mackenzie) Lawyer-Efurd of Rogers, AR and Colbey Lawyer and fiancé Haley Doty of Dierks, AR; great-grandchildren: Blake, Tyler, Kamren, Kyleigh, Kenzley and Bentley Heimsness; Elijah and Wyatt Nolen, Noah and Penelope Norris and Izabella Lawyer. She was expecting her first Great-Great Grandchild in October. Janet is also survived by her brother: Bill (Eileen) Shuck of Assumption, IL; sister-in-law: Sandra Ward of Taylorville, IL; caregiver Theresa Powell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nephew Adam Ward.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with her grandson Pastor Daniel Nolen officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL.
