Jimmy Collins, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 4:25 p.m. at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on August 6, 1933 in Taylorville, IL the son of Walter “Dutch” and Clara (Passoni) Collins. He married Anna Marie Tirey on December 19, 1952 in Stonington, IL. Jimmy worked and retired from Caterpillar in Decatur. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. Jimmy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Taylorville Knights of Columbus, VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville.

He is survived by his wife: Anna Marie Collins of Taylorville, IL; sons: James Michael (Kim) Collins of Springfield, IL; John Martin Collins of Taylorville, IL; Timothy Gerard (Lori) Collins of Taylorville; grandchildren: Amy (Jacob) Law of Omaha, NE; Michael (Sarah) Collins of Nokomis, IL; Angela (Zach) Collins of Taylorville, IL; great-grandchildren: Riley, Aiden, Hadley and Ryanne; sister: Betty Jean “Betsy” McPeek of Taylorville, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Mary Lou “Midge” Schaub, brother: Robert Collins, son Joseph M. Collins and grandson: Adam J. Collins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 10:00-12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz Officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with military graveside honors.
