Shelli R. Scott

Shelli Renee Scott, age 50, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She showed tremendous grace and strength through her Bulbar ALS Diagnosis. Her faith in the Lord sustained her and she is now at home with Him. Shelli was born on February 18, 1971 to Ronald and Carolyn (Eilers) Jackson in Taylorville, IL. 

 

She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1989, then from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, earning a B.S degree. She later continued her education at Lincoln Land where she earned her LPN and RN. Then she achieved her BSN from Benedictine. Shelli was a devoted nurse and found her true calling as a hospice nurse where she was loved by all of the families for whom she provided care. She was known for being compassionate and always focused on the care of her patients. She found such joy in this role.

 

She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville and looked forward to opportunities to attend and serve. She and Doug both grew close with their Life Group, sharing life’s joys and struggles together. She also looked forward to getting together with her weekly bible study group.

 

Shelli is survived by her devoted husband, Doug. Her sons Garrett (Madison) Scott and Dylan (Sydney) Scott, both of Taylorville. Her father Ronald Jackson of Owaneco and Sister: Jennifer (Eric) Bertoldo of Owaneco, IL. She was preceded in death by her mother Carolyn Jackson. 

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville, IL. Burial will be in Buckeye Prairie Cemetery in rural Owaneco, IL.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
