Patricia Ann Patton, 69 of Taylorville, formerly of Mt. Auburn, passed away at 10:18p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in her home.

She was born on May 18, 1952 in Decatur, the daughter of Donald and Mary (McMillan) Long.  She married Bradley Dale Patton on April 5, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2007.

She received her bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale. She began her working career at J.C. Penny in Springfield. Her time in retail work always stuck with her, she couldn’t walk through a store without refolding and organizing clothing displays.  She worked for many years at the manager of Long’s Tavern in Mt. Auburn where she was known for the famous chili she cooked.

She enjoyed playing cards and bowling and competed in leagues in Illiopolis and playing shuffleboard. Patricia enjoyed spending time on the water, both on the lake and paddling on the river.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children.

She is survived by her children: Ryan Patton (Meghan) of Palmer, and Maridon Patton of Taylorville; granddaughter: Addison Cole of Taylorville; and brother: James “Jim” Long (Pam); brother-in-law: Bryan Patton (Karen); and sister-in-law: Brenda Patton all of Mt. Auburn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Andrew Dale Patton; and several aunts and uncles including special uncle: John Shaw McMillan.

Mrs. Patton will be cremated, and a memorial graveside service will be held at 3:00p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery with Michael St. Louis officiating.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
