Allen E Barringer, 64 of Stonington, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  He was born on May 17, 1957, in Springfield, the son of Elmer O. and Harriett C. (Shartzer) Barringer.  He married Nancy J. Adams on February 17, 1990.  Allen worked for many years for the city of Stonington public works department.  He enjoyed spending time in his garage, woodworking and working on cars.  He also enjoyed going to car shows and fishing.  

He is survived by his wife: Nancy Barringer and sons: Luke Barringer and Drew Barringer all of Stonington. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herschel and Virtie (Kidd) Adams.  

Mr. Barringer will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Barringer family.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Allen, or condolences to the family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
