James Koonce, 75 of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his home in Taylorville.  He was born on December 31, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the son of Raymond Harold and Ina Josephine (Shanks) Koonce. James was a machine operator at Caterpillar for 34 years and a member of the United Auto Workers Union and Crossroads Apostolic Ministries.  He loved to hunting beagles, reading his Bible daily and spending time with his grandkids. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He is survived by Sons: Jimmy (Penny) Koonce of Bulpitt, IL and Chuckie Denning of Texas, Daughter: Shelly Harris of Texas, Grandchildren: Jennifer (Will) Davis, Jessica Koonce (Joe Moore), Jody (Shawn) Stolte, Kody Koonce, Great-Grandchildren: Audrianna Davis, Austyn Davis, Kynlee Mount, Grayson Stolte, Max Stolte, sister: Andrea McGee, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Ray Koonce.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Township Cemetery in Oconee, IL.
