Lawrence E. "Larry" Nolan

Lawrence E. “Larry” Nolan, 84 of Taylorville, passed away, surrounded by his family, at 4:05a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Taylorville Estates.  He was born on January 11, 1938 in Taylorville, the son of Edward J. and Elta G. (Buesinger) Nolan.  Larry served 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserves.  On April 4, 1959 he married Mary E. Harrell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and she preceded him in death on May 24, 1997.  He later married Janet L. Fulk on February 8, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  

 

Larry was a life-long farmer and served on the May Township Board.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini.  Larry enjoyed traveling to many parts of the country and around the world.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  Larry enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities and attending their sporting events.

 

He is survived by his wife: Janet Nolan of Taylorville; sons: Joseph Nolan (Teresa) of Taylorville, John Nolan (Laurie) of Carlinville, and Lawrence Michael “Mike” Nolan of Taylorville; stepdaughter: Theresa Stade of Divernon; stepson: Butch Fulk (Sally Prasun) of Edinburg; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Mary, daughter: Mary “Beth” Nolan; great-granddaughter: Lia Bertolino; brother: Donald Nolan; and sister: Patty Beyers.

 

A funeral mass for Larry will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Visitation will take place from 10:00am until the time of the service in the church on Thursday.  Burial, with veteran’s honors, will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville following the mass.  Memorials may be left to St. Mary’s School or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Larry, or condolences to his family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
