Marie Beatrice Fouts, 94 of Taylorville, passed away at 9:30a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on May 4, 1927, in Bunker Hill, the daughter of Edward Albert and Maude May (Stinnett) Smith. She married Louis H. Fouts on December 6, 1945, in Bunker Hill, and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2005. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid as well as the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She worked for many years in the cafeterias of several local schools. Marie was a fabulous cook and used her talents in service at her church by providing her famous pumpkin dessert and dressing and countless meals throughout the years. She enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

She is survived by her children: Judy Stiverson of Pana and Bruce Fouts of Taylorville; grandchildren: Rev. B.J. Fouts (Jessica) of Battle Creek, Nebraska, Johnna Fouts of Taylorville, and Becky Stone of Pana; great grandchildren: Sheena Shanks of Pana, Samantha Lewis (Justin) of Moweaqua, Ashley Ginger of Pana, Alexander Shanks of Springfield, and Hannah, Nathanael, Abigail, and Elisabeth “Lizzy” Fouts all of Battle Creek, Nebraska; 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: James Lee Fouts (Janice); 2 brothers, 2 sisters, a half-brother, and half-sister.

The funeral service for Marie will take place at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Rev. Rodney Blomquist officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
