Mark Louis Washburn

Mark Louis Washburn, 56 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:58a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana.  He was born on August 13, 1965 in Pana, the son of Lloyd S. and Hilda “Bea” (Blount) Washburn.  Mark received his high school diploma in Taylorville and went on to work for over 30 years at the Christian County Mental Health Association Workshop, a job he dearly loved.  Mark had a vibrant personality and had a true love of life.  He never met a stranger and could remember a person’s birthdate immediately.  He enjoyed attending dances, singing, and never missed an opportunity to go out to eat.  He participated in Special Olympics for many years and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cubs, Bears, and Illini.  He was dearly loved by his family by whom he will be missed.  


He is survived by his siblings: Debbie Menn (Rodger) of Ames, Nebraska, and Lloyd Washburn (Brenda) of Pana; sisters-in-law: Nora Washburn of Rosamond and Rene Corso of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Michael, Ted, and Daniel Washburn; and grandparents: J.C. & Nannie Blount and Zenith and Margie Washburn.


Mark will be cremated, and a memorial service will take place at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Nat Kealen officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  Inurnment will follow the service at Rosamond Grove Cemetery.  Memorials may be left to the Christian County Mental Health Association.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Mark, or condolences to his family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
