Alberta Mae Allen, 96 of Stonington, passed away at 4:47 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on January 2, 1926 in Pemiscot County, Missouri, the daughter of Albert Arthur and Ellen May (New) Brock.  She married Evan Young Allen on May 9, 1943 Perry County, Missouri and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2017.  Mrs. Allen was an active member of the Old Stonington Baptist Church and drove a bus for the Stonington School District for many years.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and playing cards and dominoes.  Alberta was a talented baker and made the best chocolate chip cookies and pies.  She enjoyed camping and her life centered around her family, by whom she will be dearly missed. 

She is survived by her children: Everett Young Allen (Janet) of Pana, Rodney Lee Allen (Rhea) of Stonington, Kevin James Allen (Daniel Menzies) of Champaign, Stephen Ray Allen (Adriana) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Randy Allen, Richard Allen, Ronald Allen, Rena Burkhart, Danny Cook, Jenny Fikan, Brian Allen, Craig Allen, Chad Allen, Zachary Allen, Christian Allen, Selah Allen, Kamila Allen, Kristina Allen, and Evan Allen; 16 great grandchildren and 15 great- great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Ivan Leslie Allen; granddaughter: Tracy Lynn Allen; great grandson: Matthew Burkhart; 4 brothers and 1 sister. 

A funeral service for Alberta will take place at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Old Stonington Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Parks officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. on Thursday at the church.  Burial will take place at the Old Stonington Cemetery.  Memorials in Alberta’s memory may be made to the Old Stonington Baptist Church.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Alberta, or condolences to her family, may be shared at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
