Ralph E. Antle

Ralph Edward Antle, 79 of Taylorville, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born on January 28, 1943 in Tallula, Illinois, the son of Virgil Madison & Maggie Jane (Pike) Antle.  Ralph graduated from the Atlanta High School in 1961 and then served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 – 1964.  On November 19, 1966 he married Linda L. Graham in Atlanta, Illinois. 

He is survived by his wife: Linda Antle of Taylorville; son: John David Antle of Chicago; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and honorary nieces Barbara, Cara, & Bobbi.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois, and brother Harvey.

Ralph graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in school psychology in 1971 from Illinois State University.  He served an internship in 1971-72 in northeastern Wisconsin.  In 1972 the family moved to Taylorville where Ralph worked as a school psychologist for Mid-State Special Education until 1975.  He then was hired by Christian County Mental Health Association where he served as President and CEO from 1975 until retirement in 2010. 

Ralph was a member of First United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the VFW.  He was a former member of the Optimist & Kiwanis clubs.  He was on the board of the Illinois Association of Community Mental Health Agencies and served as its president for one year.  He served on the board of directors for Palmer Bank beginning in 2004 and after the name of the bank was changed, he was a director on the board of CNB Bank Shares, Inc until 2020.  He was a member of the Taylorville Country Club and chaired various golf tournaments and served as president of TCC. 

Ralph chose to donate his body to scientific research.  A memorial service for Ralph will be held at 11:00a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 at the Taylorville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service in the church.  Memorials may be made to the Taylorville First United Methodist Church.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Ralph, or condolences to the family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
