Barbara "Bobbi" Murray

Barbara “Bobbi” Ann Murray of Springfield, previously of Taylorville, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world on November 11, 2022 at age 81. 

She was born to Laurence and Leola Jones on June 5, 1941. After graduating from high school, Barbara pursued a business degree at Sparks Business College, in Shelbyville where she met her loving husband, Dale Murray. Together, they were blessed with 60 years of marriage and 6 children: Tim (wife Tina) of Ladson, South Carolina, Eric (wife Penny) of Pawnee, Illinois, Ian, Lisa (husband Denis) of Springfield, Illinois, Kristin (husband Kurt) of Springfield, Illinois, and Aaron (wife Raina) of Wentzville, Missouri.  Barbara is survived by her husband, five children, their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her brother Arleigh of Tuscola and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers in law, and sisters in law.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Joan Jones, beloved son Ian Daniel Murray, and great granddaughter Gracie Banks. 

Barbara held various jobs prior to her retirement. She was a secretary, a counselor at the prison, accountant for the State of Illinois, and fulltime Mom.  Barbara loved swimming, tent camping, spending time in the kitchen, cooking from scratch, crocheting, sewing, playing cards, board games, and family time.

 

A visitation is scheduled from 5-7pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  Funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Mary’s School in Taylorville or a charity of your choice. Guests are invited to lunch at KofC Hall, Taylorville, immediately following burial.  At the wishes of Barb, guests attending this celebration of life, should dress casually, including anything Cubbie Blue, any apparel displaying cats, and jeans.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Barbara, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
