Mary Margaret (Beyers) Holthaus of Stonington, IL, passed away early Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 30, 1922 in Pana, IL, the second child of Wilfred and Marguerite Beyers. She graduated from Pana High School and worked as a stenographer in the Civil Service before her marriage to Art Holthaus on June 6, 1946 in Pana. She was a long-time member of the Altar & Rosary Society at Holy Trinity Church. Mary and Art lived most of their life in Stonington where Art farmed until his retirement in 1985.

Surviving are Mary’s six children: Donald Holthaus and wife Carol of Decatur, IL, David Holthaus and wife Brenda of Prairieville, LA, Marcia Holthaus, OP of Sinsinawa, WI, Carol White of Stonington, Geralyn Owen and husband Bob of West Liberty, IA, Robert Holthaus and wife Jill of Stonington, IL; ten grandchildren: Chris Holthaus, Amy Holthaus-Little, Jeff and Toby Arceneaux, Clint Shewmaker, Michael and Matthew Owen, Morgan and Maggie Holthaus, Emily Mink; eighteen great-grandchildren; Brothers: Don Beyers, Joe Beyers, Bill Beyers, Mike Beyers; Sisters: Pat Beyers-Holthaus and Bette Beyers-Funneman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Art, her brothers, Cyril, Nick, Dale, and Lyle Beyers and her grandson, Steven Holthaus and son-in-laws: Chuck Shewmaker and Bill White.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 8:00-9:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington. Funeral mass will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 9:00 A.M.  at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, IL, with Fr. Kosk presiding. Burial will be held in Old Stonington Cemetery.
