Charles "Charlie" Ralph Hardy

Charles “Charlie” Ralph Hardy, 80, of Tower Hill, IL, passed peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023, in Pana Community Hospital in Pana, IL with his loved ones by his side.

 

Charlie was born on October 5, 1942, in Shelby County, the son of Ralph and Wanda (Wilcoxon) Hardy. He was a 1960 graduate of Tower Hill High School. On April 16, 1961, Charlie married the love of his life, Carleen Foor, and they were blessed with 61 years of marriage. Through the years, Charlie worked at Mueller Casting, The Oliver Corporation, Grabb Motors and farmed most of his life in the Tower Hill area. He served on the Tower Hill School Board and the Assumption Coop Board. He was a member of the Tower Hill Christian Church and the NRA. He enjoyed farming, shooting his firearms, woodworking, hunting mushrooms, riding four-wheelers and spending time with his family. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him dearly.

 

Charlie leaves behind his loving wife, Carleen of Tower Hill; four sons: Michael Clay (Joanna) Hardy of Tower Hill, Luke Eric Hardy of Tower Hill, Chad Lincoln (Carrie) Hardy of Moweaqua and Mathew Jay (Dawn) Hardy of Tower Hill; five grandchildren: Joshua (Kimberly) Hardy, Nichole Hardy, Coulter Hardy, McQuade Hardy and Mackenzie (Aaron) Riley; three step-grandchildren: Gwyn Gilkson, Alexandrea Jones and Katie Jones and 16 great-grandchildren with #17 on the way.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Seth Hardy; two sisters: Barbara Hubner and Linda Pritts and one niece, Trudy Filchak.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Reverend Derrick Ritchie officiating. Burial will take place in Tower Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Tower Hill Christian Church or the Tower Hill Cemetery and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
