Sandra Marie Donaldson

Sandra Marie Donaldson, 79, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:51 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Sandie was born March 27, 1943, in Springfield, the daughter of Wayne B. and Jacquelyn M. (Osterholt) Rich.  She graduated from Morrisonville High School with the Class of 1961, where she met the love of her life, Eugene “Don” Donaldson, Jr.  They were married on September 12, 1964, at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, and they enjoyed over 58 years of marriage.

Sandie worked at the Palmer Elevator for many years, before staying home to manage the household and raise her children.  She loved cooking and baking, and everything she made was delicious.  Sandie was also an avid coffee drinker and reader, never forgetting to read from her bible every night.  She was raised in the Morrisonville United Methodist Church and remained true to her faith her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Scott and Steve Donaldson; and stepmother, Kathryn Rich.

Sandie is survived by her husband, Don Donaldson, Jr. of Taylorville; children, Jackie (husband, Don) Zlaty of Flora, IN, Sara (husband, Mike) Vice of Kincaid, and Greg (wife, Barbara) Donaldson of Taylorville; grandchildren, Zach (wife, Tori) Donaldson, Ryan Donaldson, Taylor Donaldson, Kaysi (Aaron Robertson) Vice, Lucas (Olivia Arteaga) Vice, Alyie (husband, Rit) Norman, Kaytlynn Donaldson, Kay (husband, Elwood) Adams, Krista (husband, Ted) Ostermeier, Zackary Wicker, and Zaydyn Donaldson; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Stan (wife, Doris) Rich of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private family ceremonies were held.  Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Greg Donaldson, Zach Donaldson, Elwood Adams, Zaydyn Donaldson, Lucas Vice, and Don Zlaty had the honor of serving as pallbearers.
