Carolyn Sue Kingston

Carolyn Sue Kingston, 80, of Windsor, IL, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family at 11:05 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023.

Carolyn was born on November 29, 1942, in Pana, the daughter of Richard and Helen (Paradee) Budds. Carolyn married Harold E. “Speedy” Kingston on October 19, 1959, and they celebrated 42 years of marriage before his passing on February 21, 2001. Carolyn worked at Continental Bondware in Shelbyville for many years and later Agri-Fab in Sullivan. She also provided in-home care for others and worked at the Windsor Food Center until her retirement. Carolyn enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, crocheting, reading, puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She was loved dearly and was referred to as “mom” by many. She was a very independent woman who took care of her family. We always knew who to turn to for answers. She will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her son, Harold “Doug” Kingston of Windsor; daughter, Gina Szachnitowski of Windsor; grandchildren: Jodie (John) Edwards of Beecher City, Mandy (Garren) Eaton of Mattoon, Becky (Mac) Frederick of Shelbyville; Mary (Derek) Hackett of Mattoon, Sarah Szachnitowski of Mattoon, Emmy (Nic) Ledoux of Casey and Kelsey Szachnitowski (Josh) of Windsor; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and siblings: Vivion, Cecelia, Keith, Kathy, Dawn, Julia, Mark and Lisa.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Vickie Williams and siblings: Dona, Deanna, Dick and Lyle.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Bethel Cemetery in rural Shelbyville. Memorials may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, 207 N. Oak, Windsor, IL 61957. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.
