JoAnn Harper, 91, of Hewittville passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 7:10 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on December 23, 1931 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Harry Floyd Orr and Myrtle Lorraine (Mills) Orr. She married Owen H. Harper on December 4, 1948 in the Taylorville Free Methodist Church Parsonage in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2020.

JoAnn worked as a Machine Operator at Sangamon Card Company for many years before retiring in 1994. She was an active member at Taylorville Christian Church, Taylorville VFW Post 4495 Auxiliary and The American Legion Post 72 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen (Ray) Richards of Taylorville, IL; Marilyn (Christopher) Sturek of Bailey, CO; Grandchildren: Melony (Wharton) Dorton of Taylorville, IL; Mirka Sturek of Durango, CO; Braden Sturek of Durango, CO; Great-Grandchildren; Mia Dorton and Tyler Dorton; Sisters: Donna LeFever of Edinburg, IL; Karen Harvel of Taylorville, IL; Pam Jacobs of Taylorville; IL; Brothers: Ronald (Betty) Orr of Taylorville, IL; Richard Orr of Taylorville, IL; Roger (Retha) Orr of Cowden, IL; Sister-in-Law: Janet Orr of Taylorville, IL; Brother-in-Law: John “Butch” (Mary) Harper of Assumption, IL and many nieces and nephews.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Harry Orr; Larry Orr; Robert Orr; and Sisters: Mary Durbin and Shirley Orr in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held the following day at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home with Pastor James Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
