Irene Stanley-Crosson, 91 of Taylorville, passed away at 9:25p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on April 12, 1931 in Putnamville, Indiana, the daughter of Lenox Coleman and Luna (Prince) Crawley.  She married Walter George Crosson on February 25, 2004 in Okeechobee, Florida, and he preceded her in death.  Irene retired from General Motors where she worked as a machinist.  For over 50 years she was a member of various Moose Lodges and enjoyed playing bingo and gambling.  She enjoyed fishing, working in her garden, and never passed up a chance for a good meal or sweets.  She will be remembered by her family as a very special, strong woman. 

She is survived by her children: Sharon Stewart (Kent) of Arizona, Diana Key (Earl) of Altamont, Peggy Davis of Taylorville, James Hall (Lori) of Utah, Angelia Long (Chris) of Colorado, and Jared Hall (Susan) of Taylorville; 19 grandchildren including Victoria Hall who served as Irene’s caregiver for many years; numerous great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; and brother: Eugene Crawley of Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters: Patty Hillman and Belinda Judd; and several brothers and sisters.

The funeral service for Irene will take place at 11:00a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to Kids are Kids in Taylorville.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Irene, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
