Philis Dale Riaska, 79 of Mesa, Arizona, passed away at 9:45a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in her home with her daughter at her side.  She was born on June 16, 1943 in Taylorville, Illinois, the daughter of Lucian M. McLean and Vemba (Buckmire) McLean.  She worked for many years at the Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California, first as a nurse, and then upon receiving a master’s degree in finance, she worked in administration at the hospital.  She loved cats and had several she cared for.  She enjoyed bowling and played in leagues in California for many years. Philis enjoyed entertaining family and friends by hosting many holiday gatherings in her home. 

She is survived by her daughter: Dale Lee Riaska of Mesa, Arizona; brother: Roger McLean of Ennis, Texas; and cousins: Sharon Jamison (Mike) and Karen DeMichael both of Taylorville and Bruce Buckmire (Shelia Wareham) of Owaneco. 

A graveside service for Philis will be held at 1p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville with Rev. Brennan Hurley officiating.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
