Lester Otto Fabicheski, 85 of Taylorville, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on August 26, 1937 in Taylorville, IL the son of Lester “Pat” Fabicheski and Hope Bates. He married Peggy Ellinger on July 21, 1962 in Taylorville, IL.

Lester served in the United States Air Force and later went on to work for Georgia Pacific for 20 years, Caterpillar in Decatur for 5 years, Taylorville School district for 20 years and he owned and operated Betty and Lester’s Upholstery Shop. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM in Taylorville, the Scottish Rite Consistory for 55 years and the Taylorville American Legion.

In his free time, Lester enjoyed fishing, painting, bird watching, working outside with his flowers and in his garden.  Every Wednesday morning, he looked forward to having coffee with his friends at Spring Garden and he was especially fond of sharing the memories he made while on the Honor Flight. Above all, Lester enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife: Peggy Fabicheski; daughter: Lynette (Greg) Tally of Springfield, IL; son: Eric (Cinda) Fabicheski of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Grace Tally and Jay Tally; Emilee (Jason) Forsythe-Krampf; Alicia (Josh) Lehman; and Hope (Ismael) Fabicheski; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Tanner (Savannah), and Tori Forsythe; Trenton and Garrett Lehman; Frances Fabicheski-Zendejas; sister: Sandra Krueger of Shelbyville; and half-sister: Joann O’Connor of Springfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Billy Joe Faber.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., and interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Taylorville or the Taylorville American Legion.
