Steven Allen Clayton, 67 of Stonington, IL, passed away on March 7, 2023 at Memorial Health Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on December 29, 1955 in Decatur, IL, the son of Rolla and Patsy Lee (Burns) Clayton. He married Sherry Moyer on June 7, 1975 at Berea Christian Church in rural Niantic, IL.

Steve lived his life proclaiming his faith in YaHuah (The Creator) and Yahushua (The Messiah, The Christ). His love and devotion for his family was always the first thing others noticed about him.  When he was not working for his customers in the garage, he spent all of his spare time with his children building cars, while also building special bonds and teaching each of them to live a faith-based life with their own families.  He spent just shy of 48 years dedicating his life to his wife Sherry.  His love for Sherry and their family was everything.  He touched so many lives and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
 
He is survived by his wife: Sherry Clayton; Sons: Greg (Tonya) Clayton; Shane (Tiffany) Clayton; Heath (C. Elizabeth) Clayton; Lucas (Sara) Clayton; Troy (Shyler) Clayton; Daughter: Jessica Stafford; Grandchildren: Jolene; Elyse, Paul; Josie; Alayna; Haydin; Amelia; Israel; Rikki; Shallynn; Jabe; Cruz; Aubrey; Dylan; Mia; Job; Ezra; Great-Grandson to come: Kayson Grae; Mother: Patsy Lee (Burns) Clayton; Brothers: Rick (Bonnie) Clayton; Rolly “Bud” (Mary) Clayton; Sister: Christy (John) Rogers; and Cindy Clayton. He is preceded in death by his father, Rolla Clayton.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Joy Assembly Church in Stonington.
