Beverly Ann Cross

Beverly Ann Cross, 84, of Morrisonville, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at her residence.

Beverly was born August 9, 1938, in Roodhouse, the daughter of Gerald M. and Maxine (Crabtree) Newingham, Sr.  She married Wilbert Ray Walden, and they later divorced.  Beverly then married Gerald D. Cross on December 28, 1987, and they enjoyed over 34 years of marriage.  He preceded her in death on April 29, 2022

Beverly was the best mother that a son could ever ask for.  As a mother of eight boys, she showed them her love every day, and she never showed favoritism. She was a hardworking homemaker for her entire life.  Beverly enjoyed making crafts, and she especially enjoyed sharing her talents with others.  It brought her great to joy to bring the crafts she made around the holidays to the workers at Casey’s in Morrisonville.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Walter Walden and Randy Walden; and siblings, Gerald M. Newingham, Jr., Carl William Newingham, Wanda Newingham, and Kathy E. Summers.

Beverly is survived by her sons, Dennis (wife, Della) Walden of Jacksonville, Steven Walden of Jacksonville, Kenny Walden of Meredosia, Craig (Shannon Smith) Walden of Morrisonville, Neil (wife, Alice) Walden of Morrisonville, and Andy Walden of Morrisonville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Barbara (husband, Bill) Chamberlain of Kissimmee, FL, Norma Cross of Taylorville, and Michael (wife, Cherrie) Cross of Mineral Wells, TX; brother, Joe (wife, Mellisa) Newingham; sisters, Vickie Lynn Cleer, Lisa (fiance, Mike Bauser) Wilkinson, and Barbara F. Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
