Kevin Charles “Blade” Ganey, 63, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023, after a long illness.  Kevin was born in Springfield, Illinois, on May 19, 1959, the son of Ardel and Betty Lou (Jacobs) Ganey.  He resided in Indianapolis, Indiana for a period of time, but lived most of his life in Taylorville, Illinois, where he participated in many sports, but excelled at basketball, earning him his nickname. Kevin is survived by his siblings James (Betsy Smith) Ganey, Bridget Ganey, Heather (Steve) Mills, and Patrick (Sara) Ganey, and by his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved him so very much: Jake (Trisha) Phillips- Kaylie, Keagan, Cole, and Camri; Clark (Beth Dinges) Mills-George, Teddy and Oscar; Bridget (Bryan) Jones-Hadley, Holden, Hayden and Hannah; and Maggie, James, Sean and Mary Ganey. Uncle Kevin was a favorite to all the kids. He is also survived by several cousins with whom he shared so many fond memories.

Kevin was preceded in death by his Father Ardel Ganey, his Mother Betty Ganey, his cousins Denis Ganey, Kathleen Ganey and Deborah Dougherty. The Family would like to thank Lynn Bialas for all of his care, support and friendship to Kevin during Kevin’s illness.

Services for Kevin will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, beginning with visitation at 12:00 p.m., and a memorial service to follow at 1:00p.m. with Fr. Piotr Kosk officiating at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Quarterback Club, c/o Bruce Barry, 3603 East Lake Shore Drive, Taylorville, IL 62568 where they will benefit the Taylorville High School basketball program in memory of Kevin.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Kevin, or Condolences to his family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefunearlhome.com.
