Doris Shirley Stone, 101 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Taylorville Care Center. She was born on June 1, 1921 to Joseph Halbert and Rose Hambush. Doris married Orval Stone on August 10, 1942 and they spent 52 happy years together before he preceded her in death.

Doris loved her church and Jesus Christ. She led the Senior Ministry at Joy Assembly of Stonington, IL and she found joy in hosting parties, whether that be for her family or her church. Doris enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her fried chicken and milk gravy that she frequently made for her grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her.

She is survived by her Daughter: Kay Louis Magos; Grandchildren: Lori (Robert) Blevins of Atlanta, GA; Tim Magos of Cleveland, TN; Kristi (Joel) Vicente of Tampa, FL; Great-Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Christopher) Johan of Atlanta, GA; Justin Vicente of FL; Josiah Vicente of FL; Joseph Vicente of FL: Will (Mary) Blevins of Atlanta, GA; and Jack Blevins of Atlanta, GA.

Doris was preceded in death by her Husband: Orval Stone; Parents: Joseph and Rose Halbert; Brother: Kenneth Halbert; Sister: Dixie Halbert; Maxine Jarris; and Pearl Patterson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Kincaid Church of God in Kincaid, IL. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Vance Masengill officiating. Interment will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.
