Sheila A. Nation

Sheila A. Nation, 74 of Taylorville, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 surrounded by her family in her home.  She was born on May 13, 1949 in Taylorville, the daughter of Elwood and Rose (Curry) Denning.  She married William E. Nation on November 18, 1972 in Taylorville.  Sheila served her community as a police officer with the Taylorville Police Department, retiring after 22 years of service.  She had a strong faith that guided her life.  Sheila’s life centered around her family, who she loved more than anything.  She was extremely proud of her role as “GiGi” when she became a great grandmother. 

She is survived by her husband: Bill Nation of Taylorville; children: Eric Nation of Bedford, Texas, Melanie Prachel (Don) of Eustis, Florida, Crystal Nichols of Taylorville, Jaime Doolin (John) of Decatur, Steve Nation (Renee) of Keller, Texas, Mike Nation (Aggie) of Fort Worth, Texas, Bill Nation (Debbie) of Granite City, and John Nation (Caroline) of Fort Worth, Texas; several beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Jeff Denning (Rose) of Branson, Missouri, Brad Denning of Taylorville, Todd Denning (Nikki) of Taylorville; sister-in-law: Judy Denning of Kemper, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Danny Nation; and siblings: Ronnie, Jay, David, Lee, Joyce, and Bruce. 

Sheila will be cremated, and a memorial service will take place at 12 noon on Monday, June 19, 2023 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Michael Longbons officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service and inurnment will take place in Glen Haven Cemetery in Taylorville.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Sheila, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
