Clyde "Buzz" Leon Oller

Clyde “Buzz” Leon Oller, 95 of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 17, 1927 in Taylorville, the son of Clyde C. and Ruth (Young) Oller. He married Doris Mae Kerns on February 6, 1954 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2012. Clyde retired from CIPS where he worked for over 40 years and a member of IBEW Local 702. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Clyde proudly served his country during World War II, stationed in China with the Marine Corps. He was a 50 year member of the V.F.W. Clyde was an avid reader, enjoyed practicing calligraphy, attended college after he retired, loved to garden and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Howard Oller, Eric Oller (Lisa Roskamp), and Lee Oller (Michael Grover); Grandchildren: Grady Oller, Madeline Oller-Vornberg, Mary and David Oller; siblings: Russell Oller (Irene), Rita Hancock, Wilma Weitekamp along with sister-in-law Wanda Oller. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter in-law Roseanne Oller, siblings Larry Oller, Helen McGehee (Luke), and infant brother Howard along with extended family Bass and Evelyn Ess, Roy, Betty, Mike and Richard Kerns, Jim Kerns and Leonard “Bud” McTaggart, Mary and Floyd Rodgers, Jim Hancock, Andrew Oller, and sadly his favorite dog Bailey. 

A funeral service for Clyde will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at McClure Funeral Home with Fr. Piotr Kosk officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Burial, with military graveside rites, will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Clyde, or condolences to his family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
