Jeremiah D. Briggs, 35, of Edinburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

Jeremiah was born April 20, 1988, in Springfield, the son of Joy Ann Briggs.  He grew up in White Hall and attended North Greene High School.  Jeremiah was currently employed by Aramark in Springfield.  He enjoyed cooking, hiking, and car rides to places he had never been.  Jeremiah’s greatest love was for his family, and spending time with them as often as possible.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert E. and Sharon (Buchanan) Hutton, Sr.; and uncle, Robert E. Hutton, Jr.

Jeremiah is survived by his partner, Gary L. Miller, Jr. of Edinburg; mother, Joy Ann Briggs of White Hall; brother, James Brooks, Jr. of Roodhouse; aunt, Mary Beth Hutton-Neff of White Hall; uncle, Jerad Hutton of Petersburg; and several cousins.

 Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.  The funeral ceremony will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating.

Cremation rites will be provided following ceremonies.
