Mary Etta Smith, 84, of Taylorville, IL passed away on Friday, October 27th at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born September 14th, 1939, in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of George and Alethea (Brisco) Sharp. She worked for St. Vincents Hospital for many years and later in life managed 1st Class Liquors. She loved to garden and decorate her home, always thinking of new ideas for her next project.
Mary Etta was preceded in death by her husband: Herman (Dale) Smith, her parents, sisters: Betty Lou Johnson and Rebecca Melburn, and brother: Kelsey Sharp. She is survived by her son: Michael (wife, Susan) Nation of Taylorville, IL. Grandchildren: Tyler (wife, Amy) Nation and Sara Nation. Great-Granddaughter: Avery Nation. Sisters: Patricia (husband, the late Robert) Collins and Toni (husband, Michael) O’Bryan, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral service will be held following the visitation, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.
The family is grateful for the care that was given to Mary Etta by the nurses at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation during her final years.
