Mary Ann Reed

Mary Ann Reed, 79 of Stonington, IL, died at 5:25a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born on October 20, 1944, the daughter of Dale F. and Mary Alice (Jones) Blakeman.  As an infant her father was killed during World War II.  When Mary Ann was three years old her mother married Louis “Julie” Lorenzini, who was a loving and devoted father to her.  Mary Ann was retired from the Christian County Courthouse.  Her most enjoyable years of work were spent as a bookkeeper alongside her parents, who were the owners of The Triangle Supper Club in Stonington.  Mary Ann was affiliated with the Stonington United Methodist Church.  She was a proud member of the Stonington American Legion Auxiliary.  Mary Ann was an avid reader, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.  Most of all though, she had a deep love for her five children, as well as her grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud.  Later in life, Mary Ann looked forward to and treasured the moments spent with her great-grandchildren, who she absolutely adored.  She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Surviving are her children: Rusty (Kelly) Reed of Springfield, Randy (Kirsten) Reed, of Springfield, Mary Kay Younker (Lloyd) of Ankeny, Iowa, Sherry (John) Yoder of Blue Mound, and Corey Reed of Springfield; nine grandchildren: Spencer (Evelyn) Reed, Hayley (Connor) Etheridge, Michael (Katie) Reed, Nicholas (Lyndi) Reed, Craig (Melanie) Younker, Chris (Jenna) Younker, Curtis (Lexi) Younker, Aarika (BJ) May, and Julie Yoder.  Mary Ann was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Jackson May, Hannah May, JD Younker, Calin Younker, Mikey Reed, Lacey Reed, and Berry Reed; sister: Julie (Dan) Farrimond of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; aunt: Margaret Blakeman of Quincy; and nieces: LeAnn (Brian) Schackow of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Jacquelyn (Kyle) Thompson of Fishers, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother: Thomas Lorenzini; infant sister: Tina Lorenzini; and her beloved companion of many years: Jack Thomason. 

A funeral service for Mary Ann will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the service at noon.  The burial will be in the Old Stonington Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Stonington American Legion Auxiliary.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Mary Ann, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.
